FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):
After three years of prayer and planning, PLM is officially launching its campaign to build a more effective and organized voice for Life in every corner of Mississippi. PLM has divided the state into 7 Districts, and intends to develop an active PLM chapter in each one. The 7 districts will function together under the umbrella of the statewide PLM organization. (See the PLM website for more details.).
PLM has appointed Janis Lane, a veteran pro-life apostle, as its first District/State Liaison Director to help implement the plan. She is ready to help you launch your own District Chapter.
If you sense that God is calling you to become more engaged in battling the Culture of Death, go to the “Get Involved” page of the PLM website to access an application form for establishing a District Chapter, fill it out and Janis will contact you about how to get started. You can contact her directly at 601-351-5053 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Join us today, and together we can make abortion unthinkable.
sidewalk counselors host baby shower for woman who chose life
The pro-life movement is often accused by abortion advocates of loving unborn babies but abandoning them after talking their moms out of abortion. PLM therefore loves to publicize the numerous ways these brave “turn around” mothers and their children are welcomed and supported by the pro-life community throughout their pregnancies and beyond.
On a recent Saturday in August, young sidewalk counselor Sara Beth held a baby shower at her church for a young woman she had met outside the Jackson abortion facility. Sara Beth and her friends Misty and Julie had talked with Charlena and helped her decide to trust God to work out the problems of her unexpected pregnancy and forgo her scheduled abortion.
At the shower, attended by Charlena and her mother, church members presented her with many lovely and practical baby items. PLM also contributed a gift bag of baby furnishings, paid for in part with monies and gifts generated through the AmazonSmile Charity Wish List Program.
(PLM supporters who use Amazon can go to PLM’s AmazonSmile Charity Wish List and purchase baby items. Amazon will then ship them to the PLM office. In addition, shoppers can join AmazonSmile, designate PLM as their charity of choice, and Amazon will make a donation to PLM with every purchase made through them.)
At the party, Charlena's mother told PLM President Laura Duran, "Without you (the pro-life sidewalk counselors) being there to talk to my daughter, I never would have known I was a Grandmother. Thank all of you for what you do!"
PLM also donated a hand made baby blanket created by Mary Crutchfield. Mary has been blessing our “saved” babies with these special blankets, made with a cross in the middle, since 2011.
The cake for the baby shower was made by Rachel Wallace, a member of Voices for Life.
When a malfunction in the central air and heat unit damaged a wall in the PLM office, the board decided it was a good time to refresh the weatherworn painted walls throughout the entire space. Emails were sent out asking for volunteers to help. Office Manager Tammy Tillman soon had some great news. Her church, Grace Baptist Church in Brandon, offered to help, and on August 10, they gave the office a wonderful facelift. Thank you so much!

On Saturday August the 10th and the 24th, Pastor Doug Lane, Director of Pastors for Life MS, led area ministers and their flocks in a prayer service on the sidewalk outside Mississippi’s last abortion facility. He knows this prayer presence is especially powerful when the facility is open.
“The abortion center is not open very often on Saturday,” stated Pastor Lane. “But having these prayer rallies on a Saturday allows pastors and their congregations, who normally cannot come during the workweek, to participate. We try to schedule a prayer service every time the abortion facility is operating on a Saturday.”
Churches who would like to join this ministry can contact Pastor Lane through the PLM office.
Rally for Life 2 held on Saturday, August 24.
Please join us, on the south grounds of the State Capitol at 12:30 PM on Saturday, September 14, as we remember with love the unborn babies who have died from abortion. Our keynote speaker will be Jeanhee Kang. Mrs. Kang, a native of South Korea, was invited by a friend to PLM's Spring Banquet this year. Inspired by the program, she filled out a volunteer form, stating she wanted to get involved with PLM’s ministry. When Mississippi Christian Living magazine published its May issue a few weeks later, Jeanhee’s amazing journey to faith in Christ and faith in the sanctity of life was the cover story! Realizing our new volunteer had a powerful pro-life narrative to tell, PLM invited her to share it with us at our Day of Remembrance ceremony. We hope you can be there to hear it.
The Fall 2019, 40 Days for Life campaign will officially begin on Wednesday, September 25. There will be a kickoff event on Tuesday, September 24, from 7-8 PM. The program will take place on the sidewalk in front of the last abortion facility in our state, located at 2903 North State Street in Jackson.
PLM will again be hosting a booth at the Mississippi State Fair, presenting fair-goers with life-affirming literature and displays, and engaging them in conversations of consequence. The fair begins on Wednesday, October 2nd and runs through Monday, October 14th. Please consider helping us man the booth. You can volunteer by contacting our office at 601-956-8636.
PLM is excited about our upcoming Walk for Life. Even though it isn’t scheduled until October, planning is well underway. “Our goal is to have 50 churches form teams for the walk,” announced PLM President Laura Duran. "This is a family friendly event that will start out from St. Richard Catholic Church, proceed 2 miles to the state’s last remaining abortion facility, and end back at St. Richard's with a brunch provided by the Knights of Columbus."
Prizes will be awarded in three categories:
To be eligible for the prizes listed above, participants must raise a minimum of $500.
All youth who take part in the walk and plan to go with PLM to the National March for Life in Washington D.C. in 2020 will have half of the monies they raise credited toward their expenses for the trip.
