Love Saves Lives

Love Saves Lives. A voluntary pregnancy termination destroys a child made in the image of God. Some things are wrong, some things are not loving. Valentine’s Day marked the kick-off of a 40 Days for Life campaign using the theme from the 2018 March for Life, Love Saves Lives. We are focusing on concentrated prayer and fasting, public peaceful vigil, and community outreach. We want to end abortion in our area, close that last abortion clinic in our state, and see those clinic workers come to a saving faith in our Lord Jesus Christ.

“Saving Lives Where You Live” is the title of Shawn Carney’s quarterly magazine column where he noted that, “We are at a testing point in our culture. Our world is starving for Christ and we have a beautiful opportunity to joyfully witness His love by showing up to pray.”

Some ask why we need to come to the sidewalks, citing our need to pray in private and not for show. Private prayers are absolutely necessary before moving into the public square, but the urgency of the abortion crisis requires a public proclamation as well. Specifically, our public proclamation is: “Pray to End Abortion”. We hold up signs imploring all who pass by the abortion clinic to pray with us. So we are praying in public in addition to holding up signs, but in so doing, we are “asking” others to join with us. It’s a good response to those who oppose us who seek to define Christian pro-lifers as bigoted fundamentalists, verging on schizophrenia because they claim to be on a personal communication level with God. Actually we do communicate with God and we’re even praying for those who oppose us. We must pray as we speak with love and respect, defending these defenseless ones, and helping these mothers save the lives of their unborn children.

Will you take a public stand against abortion for an hour every day, every week, or at least several times before the close of the campaign on March 25? Join us during daylight hours at that last Mississippi abortion clinic on State Street here in Jackson. “Pray to End Abortion” posters are available at the pro-life office. We are praying on Saturdays and Sundays, so weekend prayer warriors from around the State are welcome.
