On Saturday, September 9th, thousands of pro-lifers gathered at over 180 gravesites of aborted babies and at memorial sites throughout the United States for the 5th annual National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children. Not only did the overall number of memorial services across the country once again increase, but several veteran leaders also witnessed a significant boost in the number of mourners who attended their services.
At the Jackson, Mississippi service we had about 45 people in attendance. Dana Chisholm, President of Pro-Life Mississippi welcomed everyone and thanked them for coming. Sister Dorothea Sondgeroth of St. Dominic Health Services opened the service in prayer. Pastor Ryan Sullivan of Grace Community Church of Jackson was the keynote speaker. Stacey Sistrunk of Hattisburg led everyone in “Jesus Loves Me” and “Amazing Grace”. Dana reminded everyone that 40 Days for Life was right around the corner and asked them to sign up. Buddy Edens said the closing prayer.
According to an article written by Pro-Life Action League; “Several news stories about the National Day of Remembrance for Aborted Children have appeared thus far in media across the country. Perhaps the best story that has appeared thus far is this one that aired on WLBT-TV in Jackson, MS.” You can view the coverage here.
